Hormonal Gestrinone Implant

Gestrinone is a synthetic steroid derived from 19-nortestosterone, initially developed as a contraceptive method, and currently used particularly in the management of pelvic pain in endometriosis, as well as in the treatment of uterine leiomyomas and mastalgia. It acts through complex mechanisms involving androgenic properties (increasing free testosterone levels and decreasing circulating SHBG levels), anti-estrogenic (especially in the endometrium), antigonadotropic (reducing FSH and LH secretion), and antiprogestogenic effects, thereby suppressing ovulation, resulting in oligo or amenorrhea and reducing endometriotic implants.

With specific indications for women with endometriosis, PMS, uterine fibroids, bone and muscle mass loss, low libido, anemia due to increased menstrual flow.
